Spammers are commonly sending out bulk emails using forged or non-existent email addresses as the return address.  Some of these emails have attachments which contain viruses.

Please follow safe email procedures:

bulletAlways run a virus checking program and keep the virus definitions up to date (check for updates no less than 1-2 times per week).
bulletDo not open attachments from unknown individuals.
bulletDo not EVER provide sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, credit card numbers, etc at the request of an email.  Contact the company directly (use a good search engine such as www.google.com if you don't know the company's web address) or call the company to determine if the request is valid.  Most companies will NEVER ask for sensitive information through an email.
bulletIf you get an email which you believe is spam, look at the detailed header information BEFORE you open the email.  In Internet Explorer, highlight the email in question, right click on the name and select Options.  Learn to read these headers at sites such as: iinet and SpamAbuse.org.
