General George Patton - Strategist

The entrepreneur is typically adept at imagining what could be and developing visions of a bright and successful future.  However, these visions must be tempered with an honest appraisal of the resources and capabilities of the organization and the needs, expectations and resources of the customer.  A Strategic Plan should be a stretch for accomplishment but not unattainable.

Failing to recognize weaknesses can seriously impact the organization’s ability to carry out its mission and reach its vision.  This pitfall is especially noticeable in organizations that have experienced recent success.

For over a 1000 years, Roman conquerors rode in a triumphal chariot in a tumultuous parade.  A soldier or slave stood behind the conqueror holding a golden crown and whispering in his ear a warning that all glory is fleeting and that many battles remain to be fought.
